About Bisous Minerals

The word Bisou(s) (pronounced bee-zoo) is French for Kiss(es). The acronym of Kiss stands for “Keep It Simple & Safe”, which perfectly aligns with the old saying “less is more”. It is no coincidence that our name reflects this simplicity when it comes to the development of mineral cosmetics. With numerous potentially toxic chemicals used in personal care products today, the timeless adage “less is more”, has never been more true. We believe the usage of fewer and simpler ingredients not only translates to fewer chances of irritation and harm to one's skin, but also to one's health.

Unlike “traditional” cosmetics and other mineral makeup, our mineral cosmetics are made of natural ingredients free of synthetic minerals such as bismuth oxychloride* and boron nitride, talc, chemicals, preservatives (parabens), oils, dyes, fragrances, animal by-products, or starches such as corn and oat that can easily spoil. We kept the good ingredients and left out the bad ones.

Indeed, not all minerals are created equal. At Bisous Minerals, we use only the finest grade minerals available to ensure the quality and safety of our products. *Companies that choose to use bismuth oxychloride do so because it is a cheap mineral and a great filler. Chemically, it resembles arsenic and antimony. Bismuth has light refractive and very high sheen properties. It is this high sheen that causes mineral makeup to appear 'shiny', which can magnify fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, the buffing action required to achieve the necessary skin adhesion with bismuth can cause itching and redness.
