Brush CareKeeping your makeup brushes clean allows for a smoother and even application of mineral makeup. It also prevents the harboring of bacteria that can spread to your skin, causing breakouts. We recommend washing your brushes at least once a week and more often for those with oily or problem skin. The brushes are well overdue for a cleaning when the bristles feel hard or sticky*.
IMPORTANT: Avoid getting water into the brush ferrule (the silver piece that attaches the handle to the bristles). Always wash and rinse your brushes with the bristles pointing downwards. Do not store a wet brush with bristles pointing upwards as this will trap water in the brush ferrule, causing damage to the brush. *NOTE: Soap build-up can cause the bristles to become hard or sticky over time. To bring the bristles back to its new condition, occasionally clean the bristles with rubbing alcohol. After washing your brush, soak the bristles in rubbing alcohol; then squeeze excess alcohol from bristles. Repeat this process until the alcohol runs clear. Reshape the bristles and lay the brush at an angle with bristles pointing downwards on a towel to dry.Brush-care Tip: It generally takes about 24 hours for a brush to completely dry; the denser the bristles, the longer the drying time. Wash your brushes immediately AFTER applying makeup in the morning so that it will be ready for use the following day. Better yet, have an extra brush or set handy in the event the washed brushes have not yet dry to ensure you always have something to apply your makeup with. |
